APPLICATION PROCESS

CASES WHERE THE APPLICATION IS VALID

Among candidates who are in their final year of high school or who have graduated:

  • Foreign nationals (provided that they are not studying at or have not graduated from secondary education [high school] institutions in Türkiye).
  • Blue Card holders (provided that they are not studying at or have not graduated from secondary education [high school] institutions in Türkiye or the TRNC).
  • Dual citizens (provided that they are not studying at or have not graduated from secondary education [high school] institutions in Türkiye or the TRNC).
  • Turkish citizens who have completed their entire secondary education (high school) in a foreign country other than the TRNC (including those who completed their entire secondary education [high school] in Turkish schools opened abroad under the Turkish Ministry of National Education).
  • Citizens of the TRNC who reside in the TRNC and have completed their secondary education (high school) in the TRNC and hold GCE A-Level exam results, or who enrolled in colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005–2010 and obtained/will obtain GCE A-Level exam results through their education there, or TRNC citizens who completed their entire secondary education (high school) in a foreign country and hold TR-YÖS results.

CASES WHERE THE APPLICATION IS NOT VALID

  • If you are a Turkish citizen and completed your entire secondary education (high school) in Türkiye or TRNC.
  • TRNC citizens (except those who completed high school in TRNC and hold GCE A-Level results, and those who enrolled in colleges/high schools in other countries between 2005–2010 and obtained or will obtain GCE A-Level results).
  • Dual citizens whose first nationality by birth is Turkish (except those who meet the conditions stated above in Article 5/1-c).
  • Dual citizens holding TRNC citizenship (except those specified above with GCE A-Level qualifications).
  • Turkish citizens who studied at schools within Turkish embassies in Türkiye or at foreign high schools in Türkiye, including those whose first nationality by birth is Turkish under Article 5/1-b.

BLUE CARD

Individuals who were Turkish citizens by birth but received official permission from the Ministry of Interior to renounce Turkish citizenship, and their minor children registered in the renunciation document, may apply provided they document that they hold the "Certificate Regarding the Exercise of Recognized Rights" under the Turkish Citizenship Law (Law No. 5901).

Applicants are advised to review the Turkish Citizenship Law before applying.

If you hold any of the following exams, scores, or diplomas, you may apply to Anadolu University free of charge:

Accepted Exams and Diplomas

  • TR-YÖS (minimum 250 score) – Valid for 2 years
  • ACT (minimum 21 in Math, Science Reasoning, and composite) – 2 years
  • Afghan National University Entrance Exam (KONKUR) – Minimum 300/350 – 2 years
  • Azerbaijan TQDK Central Exam – Minimum 400/700 – 2 years
  • Indonesia Ujian Nasional – Minimum 40/60 – 2 years
  • GAOKAO – Minimum 480/750 (relevant score type) – 2 years
  • WAEC (Nigeria) – Minimum B3 in six subjects including Mathematics – 2 years
  • SAT I – Minimum 550 Math and 1000 total (Math + Reading) – 2 years
  • GCE A-Level – At least 2 A-Level subjects (one related to the applied program) – Unlimited
  • ABITUR / Austrian MATURA (1–4 points; Fach Abitur not accepted) – Unlimited

If you do not have any valid exam or diploma listed above, you must take TR-YÖS, the only exam accepted by Anadolu University.

If you are an international applicant:

  • TR-YÖS Result (2024, 2025, or 2026 sessions)
  • Passport or National ID
  • Residence permit (if previously obtained)
  • Original high school diploma and official Turkish translation
  • Multiple Citizenship Declaration Form (for Turkish or dual citizens)
  • One biometric photo (4.5 x 6.0 cm)
  • Turkish Proficiency Certificate (minimum B2 according to CEFR) if admitted to a Turkish-medium program (Anadolu TÖMER or Yunus Emre Institute TYS)
Important Information

Application for final registration must be completed in person or by an officially authorized representative (via notary, embassy, or consulate).

Certified copies or photocopies of required documents are not accepted.

Incomplete documentation results in cancellation of registration.

Failure to register within the specified dates results in loss of admission rights.

Providing false information may result in legal action by the University.

Scholarship students must follow all procedures via YTB – Türkiye Scholarships.

Applications are typically announced between May and July. Please follow official announcements.

If you meet the eligibility criteria, applicants are ranked according to their scores.

In case of equal scores:

  1. Preference order
  2. High school GPA
  3. Younger age

Applicants from the same country may not exceed 20% of the quota for a given program.

If you are a dual citizen, you must declare the citizenship you are applying with in the online application. Failure to present valid documentation for the declared citizenship during final registration will result in cancellation of admission.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

TR-YÖS is an entrance examination for international students who wish to study at higher education institutions in Türkiye. Applicants may use their TR-YÖS results when applying for admission to Turkish universities.

To apply, you must be in your final year of high school or have already graduated.

TR-YÖS is administered in Turkish, German, French, Russian, and Arabic.

The exam is valid for two (2) years from the date of examination.

TR-YÖS is generally held twice a year, typically in April–May and October. Any changes are announced in the official ÖSYM calendar. You are advised to follow updates regularly:

Turkish Proficiency

If you are admitted to a program taught in Turkish, you must meet one of the following requirements in order to complete your registration:

  • A Turkish proficiency certificate issued by TÖMER with a CEFR (European Language Portfolio) equivalent level, or
  • Anadolu University Turkish Certificate Program equivalent.

For associate degree and undergraduate programs, the minimum required level is B2.

Certificates issued by TÖMER and results from the Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Proficiency Exam (TYS) are accepted.

You are not required to submit a Turkish Proficiency Certificate if:

  1. You completed your secondary education in Türkiye at Turkish high schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.
  2. You completed your secondary education at Turkish schools abroad officially recognized by the Ministry of National Education.
  3. You completed your secondary education through the Ministry of National Education Open High School Overseas Programs.
  4. You are eligible under the Turkish Citizenship Law as a Blue Card holder (documentation required).
  5. You are admitted to a program taught entirely in a foreign language.

If your Turkish proficiency is insufficient, you may complete a pre-registration and will be granted one (1) year leave to improve your Turkish level.
If you are unable to reach the required level within this period, you may be granted an additional year, provided that you enroll in Anadolu TÖMER and document your status accordingly.

If you would like to improve your Turkish proficiency or strengthen your academic Turkish skills, Anadolu TÖMER provides structured language education.

Established in 2016, Anadolu University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (TÖMER) offers Turkish language education to international students. The aim is to enable students to actively follow their departmental courses and acquire the academic language skills required for university studies.

At TÖMER, you can:

  • Develop your daily and academic Turkish systematically,
  • Learn language strategies necessary for active participation in your courses,
  • Improve presentation, writing, and reading skills through Academic Turkish courses,
  • Become familiar with Turkish culture.

Courses are offered at Yunus Emre Campus, both face-to-face and online (synchronous/asynchronous).

The Yunus Emre Institute provides Turkish language courses and cultural programs for international students, supporting their academic and social life in Türkiye.

  2. You completed high school at Turkish schools abroad,
  3. You completed high school through Anadolu University Western Europe Programs,
  4. You are registering in a program whose language of instruction is a foreign language.

If your Turkish level is not sufficient, you will be considered on leave for one (1) year after completing a pre-registration to improve your Turkish proficiency.

I Am a Scholarship Student

If you are a scholarship student, you can obtain all relevant information from the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB).

When: If you have earned the right to final registration, the registration calendar will be announced by the Student Affairs Office.

You must pay your tuition fee per semester to Ziraat Bank starting from the date you register.
(For the Faculty of Law, payment is made annually.)

  • If you graduated from international minority high schools, you do not need to make a payment.
  • If you are a Türkiye Scholarships (YTB) student, you will not make any payment.

A. Submit Your Online Application to the Presidency of Migration Management (Ministry of Interior)

  1. Complete the online application form
  2. Online appointment: This appointment is only for saving your information in the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management system. You will not attend this appointment.
  3. Download, print, and sign your Pre-Registration Form.
    Please make sure the form is 4 pages.

B. Prepare the Required Documents for Your Residence Permit Application

Required Documents:

  1. Residence permit application form (Pre-Registration Form) – the form in Section A
  2. Your passport
    • Photocopy of the first page showing your identity information
    • Photocopy of the page showing the entry stamp (your last entry date to Türkiye)
    • You must bring the original passport with you
    • If you have a residence card, bring a photocopy (even if expired)
  3. Student certificate
    You must obtain a photo-attached, signed, and stamped student certificate from the student affairs office of your Faculty / Vocational School / Institute.
    Important: Student certificates are valid for 1 month for residence permit applications.
  4. Biometric photos
    • 3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background
    • First-time application: 4 photos
    • Extension/transfer applications: 2 photos
  5. Valid health insurance
    • General Health Insurance (GSS): If covered, log in to e-Devlet and generate a barcode document from the SPAS Eligibility Inquiry page.
    • Private health insurance: Bring printed copies of the first 5 pages.
    • YTB scholarship holders: Generate a barcode document via e-Devlet from the SPAS Eligibility Inquiry page.
  6. Proof of address (submit one option that applies to you)
    • For extensions: Certificate of Residence (Yerleşim Yeri Belgesi) from e-Devlet (if you provide this, no additional address documents are needed)
    • Staying in your own home: photocopy of the title deed (bring the original)
    • Staying with a rental contract: notarized rental contract (all pages) + landlord’s ID copy (bring the original contract)
    • Staying in a dorm/aparthotel/private dorm: required supporting documents from the facility
    • Staying in a KYK dormitory: document proving dormitory residence
    • Staying in a hotel, etc.: document proving accommodation
    • Staying with a sponsor/supporter: notarized undertaking + copy, and the supporter’s certificate of residence
      • If the supporter is married, the spouse must also provide an undertaking.
    Supporter: A person who declares and undertakes to cover all personal expenses (food, health, transportation, etc.) of the international student in Türkiye, and to ensure the student’s departure upon visa/residence expiry.
  7. Residence permit card fee receipt
    • Residence permit card fee: 964 TL
    • You must bring the payment receipt.

    • First-time applicants: payment can be made at the nearest tax office branch.

  8. UETS (National Electronic Notification Address) document
    Bring a printed screenshot from a PTT branch or via e-Devlet.
    Note: First-time residence permit applicants do not need to submit a UETS document.
  9. For students under 18
    • Apostilled Consent Letter
    • Apostilled Birth Certificate
    For both documents, you need originals, certified Turkish translations, and one photocopy each.
    If translation cannot be done in your country, it must be translated in Türkiye with notarization.

C. Document Submission (International Office)

  1. You must book an appointment via: randevu.anadolu.edu.tr
  2. After booking, download and print the appointment document/form as a single page (“download document”).
  3. On your appointment date and time, submit all required documents in full to the International Office.

Fingerprints

If this is your first residence permit application, after submitting your documents to our office you must go to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management or the mobile Migration Unit on our campus to give your fingerprints.

Address Registration

  • If this is your first residence permit application, you must register your address within 20 days after receiving your Residence Permit Card.
  • If you move to a different address, you must report an address change within 20 days from the moving date.
